The MacDonough family home — a full custom build.
Some homes begin as a blueprint. This one began on a sketch pad. Rane MacDonough already had a clear picture of the home she wanted, and our job was to honor that picture rather than talk her out of it.
What followed was a full custom build, taken from those first rough sketches all the way to a finished house. Each idea was met with enthusiasm and a straight answer about how to actually get there. We broke ground in the middle of winter, during COVID — neither of which makes a build any easier.
The dream house got built, on the timeframe we set and inside the budget we agreed to, in spite of the season and the state of the world at the time. That is the whole job, really: turning a sketch into something you can live in, without losing the sketch along the way.
I can't say enough good about Chad Gailey and the Dihedral team. I designed my home on a sketch pad and presented Chad with all kinds of ideas and challenges. Chad met each idea with enthusiasm and counseled me beautifully on exactly how to achieve what I was after. With expertise and know-how, Chad turned my lifelong ideas to reality and did so with an eagle eye for efficiency, timing, cost and budget. Throughout the process Chad was a great partner and teacher. Even though we were in the middle of COVID and started mid-winter, Chad turned my dream home into reality, within the timeframe and budget I asked for. Always good natured, always supportive and always honest, I couldn't have asked for more.
